HUGs make the perfect gift this holiday season

image of HUG certificateYou want to get your family something practical for the holidays, but you don't know their clothing size and the latest gadgets are just too expensive. Why not give them a HUG?

Home Utility Gift (HUG) certificates for KU and ODP customers are available at any of the our customer service walk-in centers. A HUG is a gift certificate that immediately credits the customer's utility account and therefore cannot be lost, stolen or accidentally thrown away. The buyer receives a gift certificate to present to the recipient indicating the amount of the HUG purchase, so the customer will know the amount of the credit placed on his or her account.

HUGs can be purchased at any customer service walk-in center during normal hours of operation. To ensure credit is applied to the proper account, buyers should know the address of the HUG recipient. HUGs start at $25 and can be purchased in any denomination beyond that by cash or check.

Demand Conservation today!

Electric meter closeupYou can help the environment and save energy, too. Whether you choose our traditional switch program, which pays you to help the environment, or our free programmable thermostat option where you have the potential to realize year-round savings, you can Demand Conservation.

Sign up for our Demand Conservation program today. You can reduce energy demand by signing up for a free device that we connect to your central air conditioner, heat pump or electric water heater, or a free programmable thermostat.

Demand Conservation helps reduce peak demand, which enables us to use our power plants more efficiently and delay the addition of new ones.

As a bonus with the switch option, we'll credit your utility bill $5 per month (up to $20 annually) for each of the four summer months (June through September) for each central air conditioning unit.

With the programmable thermostat option, you won't be eligible for the $20 annual credit; however, if used properly, the thermostat offers you the ability to reduce your year-round heating and cooling bill by 10% - 20% each year.

Additional bonuses apply for water heaters. These programs are available only in areas where our radio signal is accessible.
